In the mural, you can see the moment when Cristina is singing with all the power and posture that characterizes the jota, accompanied in the background by Marcos playing the guitar.
Both are dressed in the traditional clothing characteristic of the Aragonese people
For the mural's inauguration, Marcos and Cristina wanted to give me a lovely gift. They showed up dressed in traditional costume, the same one they wore in the mural, and began singing a jota with verses they had written for me. It's such an honour that they wrote a jota for me!
The moment I did the photo shoot for the mural was the first time I heard the Jota Aragonesa live. It was a very exciting moment for me, feeling Cristina's voice piercing through me with all its energy.
MOW : Was there any sounds, music that inspired this mura?
SOJO : This mural is entirely inspired by the ‘Jota Aragonesa’. The term “Jota” refers to both the dance and the music, and can be found in different parts of Spain. What makes the Jota de Aragón unique is undoubtedly its music, in which a soloist takes centre stage, singing ‘coplas’ and projecting their voice with extraordinary energy.
