Retrato Feito à Mão

"Retrato Feito à Mão" ("Handmade Portrait") is a song created by Apolo Torres at home with limited resourceS. just a guitar and a MIDI controller/MPC. Everything was arranged and played from scratch, without the use of pre-made loops or samples.

When HE shared the track with His friend, trumpeter Cosmo Ripa, he mentioned that while he liked the music, the MIDI trumpet sound wasn't great. Apolo explained that it was merely a way to get his ideas dowN. given his limited resources and that the recording was essentially just a demo. Cosmo Ripa replied, "I’ll record the trumpet part and send it to you!"

Coincidentally, at that same time, Apolo was working on a mural in Porto Alegre featuring a portrait of COSMO RIPA. a reinterpretation of a painting he had created years earlier. This whole interaction inspired him to share the story and release the music to the world. For the YouTube release, APOLO decided to create a simple animation so the song wouldn't just be set against a static image.
